Most Handyman Websites Don't Look Good.
They Don't Win Much Work Either.
Nobody rings a handyman for one thing. They ring with a list: the dripping tap, the shelf that's been in its box since Christmas, the TV that needs going on the wall. Websites for handymen have to show you'll take on the whole list, turn up when you say, and charge a fair price.
Most handyman websites are a logo, "no job too small" and a mobile number. That doesn't answer a single question a customer has. Good handyman website design leads with what you do, what you charge and why you're safe to let into the house.
I build websites to do exactly that.
- 01FoundSEO architecture built in from the start.
- 02ChosenProof and design that make you the obvious call.
- 03ContactedEvery important page leads towards an enquiry.
Stop renting your growth.
Ads disappear when you stop paying. Your website doesn't.
What people check before they call a handyman
A handyman gets let into homes, often by people living on their own. These are the questions your website has to answer before anyone picks up the phone.
- 01
Will you do my little job?
Plenty of trades won't come out for a curtain pole. A jobs list that names the small stuff tells people they won't be turned away, or overcharged, for it.
- 02
What will it cost?
Your hourly or half-day rate, any minimum charge and how materials work. People with a list of jobs love being able to work out a rough price before they ring.
- 03
Are you safe to let in?
A friendly photo of you, a DBS check, your insurance and reviews that mention being polite and tidy. This matters most to older customers and people on their own.
- 04
Will you actually turn up?
Reviews about reliability, a clear way to book and a reply that doesn't take three days. Handyman customers have usually been let down by someone before.
Built to get you found.
Built to get you chosen.
Built to get you contacted.
Here's what built properly looks like for handymen. Each page has one job: making it easy for the right customer to find you, trust you and get in touch.
- 1
Built to get you foundA jobs list that names every job you do, pages for the jobs people search for by name, a page for each town you cover and the technical groundwork Google needs.
- 2
Built to get you chosenYour photo, your prices, your DBS check and insurance, and reviews about turning up and tidying up, right where people decide who to let in.
- 3
Built to get you contactedA call button on every page and a short form where people list their jobs and add photos, so you can price a half day without a visit.
The pages a handyman website needs
Google ranks pages, not businesses. Your jobs list does the heavy lifting, and the jobs people search for by name get pages of their own.
Jobs list
Every job you take on, grouped into putting up, assembling, fixing and outside jobs, so people find theirs in seconds.
Prices
Your rates, minimum charge and how materials work, written plainly so the right customers book and the bargain hunters don't.
Flat pack assembly
Wardrobes, beds, desks and garden furniture, one of the jobs people most often search for by name.
TV mounting, shelves and pictures
Wall mounting on brick, plasterboard and stud walls, with a note on hiding the cables neatly.
Landlords and letting agents
Repairs between tenancies, small maintenance jobs and photo reports, for the customers who come back every month.
Area pages
A page for each town you cover, so you show up when people search "handyman near me" where you want to work.
Everything you need

Your DBS check, insurance and reviews up front, for the customers who think twice before letting someone in.

Full terms: paying and guarantees
Paying
I take no deposit and no booking fee. You pay nothing until you've seen and approved your homepage design. Then you pay the full price in one go, and I build the rest. The price is one-off. No VAT to add.
The See-It-First Guarantee
Your homepage design comes within 24 hours of your set-up call. 1 round of changes is included before you decide. You then have 2 working days to say yes or no, so I can hold your build slot. The 7-day clock pauses while you decide. If you say no, you owe nothing, and the unused design stays with me.
The 7-Day Launch Guarantee
The 7 working days start on your booked start date, with your set-up call. The clock only runs once I have everything on my set-up list: your details, logins and photos. It pauses while I'm waiting on you: for feedback, answers, your decision on your homepage design, your payment or access to your web address. 'Live' means your site is up on your own web address. If it isn't live in time because of a delay on my side, I pay you £100 by bank transfer within 7 days of launch. It's money, not a credit.
What I don't promise
I don't promise rankings, calls, enquiries or jobs. Google decides when and where your pages show up. My guarantees cover my own work.
How people find and hire a handyman
Handyman searches come in two flavours. Some people search the trade: "handyman near me", "handyman Rotherham", "odd job man". Others search the job: "flat pack assembly", "TV wall mounting", "curtain pole fitting". A good handyman website catches both.
The customers are a mix. Busy families who'd rather pay than lose a Saturday. Older homeowners who used to do it all themselves. People who've just moved in with a house full of boxes. Landlords and letting agents with a steady trickle of small repairs. Every one of them is about to let a stranger into their home, so trust does more of the selling than in almost any other trade.
They tend to decide quickly, too. A couple of websites, a glance at the reviews and a look for a price. If yours answers those on the first screen, you get the call.
Handyman website design starts with the jobs list
The most useful page on a handyman's website is a plain list of jobs. Not "general property maintenance", but the actual jobs, grouped so people can scan them:
- Putting things up: shelves, curtain poles and blinds, mirrors and pictures, TVs, coat hooks.
- Assembling things: flat pack wardrobes, beds, desks, garden furniture and sheds.
- Fixing things: sticking doors, loose handles, dripping taps, tired sealant round the bath.
- Outside jobs: gutter clearing, fence panel repairs and small garden jobs.
The jobs people search for by name, like flat pack assembly or TV mounting, then get their own pages with photos and a price guide. That's how you show up for the job, not just the trade.
Say what you don't do
It sounds backwards, but a short "jobs I don't do" list builds trust. Gas work needs Gas Safe registration by law. In England, new electrical circuits, a new consumer unit and extra sockets or lights near a bath or shower are notifiable, so they need a registered electrician or building control sign-off, as the Planning Portal explains. "I don't do gas or new circuits, but I can recommend someone who does" tells a customer you know where the line is.
If carpentry is most of what you do, my page on websites for carpenters may suit you better than a general handyman site.
Be upfront about your prices
Handyman customers worry about price in a particular way. They fear their job is too small to be worth your time, or that you'll charge a fortune for twenty minutes' work. Your website can settle both.
Set out how you charge: an hourly rate, a half-day or full-day rate, any minimum charge and whether materials are on top. Here's how it might read, with made-up numbers (use your own): first hour £50, then £35 an hour, or £150 for a half day, with materials at cost and agreed before you buy anything.
Clear prices do two jobs. They cut out the "how much to hang a picture?" calls that eat your evenings, and they nudge people into saving up a list for a half day, which is better for you and better value for them.
DBS checks and insurance, shown properly
Trust is the whole game for a handyman, so the proof you have should be easy to find. Two things matter most.
A DBS check. There's no general rule that a handyman must have one, but many customers like to see it. As a self-employed handyman in England or Wales, you can usually apply for a basic DBS check yourself on gov.uk. It costs £20 as of October 2026, after a price cut on 5 October, and processing usually takes a few days. Show it on the site with the date it was issued, and get a fresh one every year or two so it doesn't go stale.
Insurance. Public liability insurance isn't a legal requirement for a one-person business, but most homeowners and every letting agent will ask about it. If you take anyone on, employers' liability insurance is usually a legal requirement. Whatever you hold goes near your reviews.
Add a friendly photo of you and your van, and the page answers the question older customers ask themselves before they ring: is this someone I'd be happy to let in?
Landlords, regulars and repeat work
The best handyman businesses run on repeat customers. A landlord with six flats. A letting agent who needs a reliable pair of hands between tenancies. The retired couple who ring every couple of months. A page written for landlords and agents, covering photo reports, key collection and invoices they can pass on, brings in exactly that kind of customer.
Two small systems help you keep them. Asking every customer for a Google review keeps your reviews fresh, and review automation can do the asking for you. And because you're often up a ladder when the phone rings, missed-call text back sends the caller a text straight away, so they don't just ring the next handyman on the list.
What websites for handymen cost, and whether you need one yet
I build websites for handymen as part of my Job Winning Website: £497, one-off, with no VAT and no deposit, plus £20 a month for hosting and your web address. You see your homepage design within 24 hours of the set-up call, before you pay anything.
Made-up numbers again: if a half day's work leaves you £130 after fuel and materials, the site needs four or five extra half days to pay for itself. One regular landlord can do that in a couple of months.
The honest bit: if local Facebook groups and word of mouth already fill your week, you may not need a website yet, and Do I need a website? will help you decide. When you do want more of the jobs you like, or more customers in a new area, a website is the one thing you own outright, and SEO for handymen can help more people find it later. To see what yours could look like, ask for a free website mockup.
Handyman website questions, answered.
How does payment work?
No deposit and no booking fee. You pay nothing until you've seen and approved your homepage design. Then you pay the full price in one go, and I build the rest. The price is one-off, with no VAT to add.
What if I don't like the first design?
You see your homepage design within 24 hours of your set-up call, before you pay anything, and 1 round of changes is included. If it still isn't right, walk away and owe nothing. That's the See-It-First Guarantee.
How long does the build take?
Your site goes live within 7 working days of your start date, once I have your details, logins and photos. If it's late because of a delay on my side, I pay you £100.
Do I own the website?
Yes. Your site, your domain and your content belong to your business. Nothing is held hostage.
What do I need to provide?
The basics: the services you offer, the areas you cover, and any photos of your work. I'll guide you through the rest.
Do I need to write anything?
No. I write every page based on your trade, your services and the areas you cover. You review it all before anything goes live.
What photos do you need?
Real photos of finished jobs, even ones taken on your phone. If you don't have enough yet, I'll tell you honestly where that leaves a gap, rather than filling it with stock photos that undersell your work.
What should a handyman website include?
A clear jobs list, your prices or at least your rates and minimum charge, the towns you cover, a photo of you, your Google reviews, any DBS check and insurance you hold, and an easy way to call or send a list of jobs with photos. A page for landlords and letting agents helps if you want regular work.
Should a handyman put prices on their website?
In my view, yes. Handyman customers often don't know whether their job is worth a call, and a clear rate with a minimum charge answers that. It cuts down on calls asking how much to hang a picture, and people with a list can bundle jobs into a half day. You choose the format: hourly, half-day or fixed prices for common jobs.
Do I need a DBS check to be a handyman?
There's no general legal requirement, but many customers like to see one, especially older people and those living alone. As a self-employed handyman in England or Wales, you can usually apply for a basic DBS check yourself on gov.uk, and as of October 2026 it costs £20. If you have one, the site shows it clearly, with the date it was issued.
What jobs should a handyman not advertise?
Anything you're not qualified or registered to do. Gas work needs Gas Safe registration by law. In England, new electrical circuits, a new consumer unit and extra points near a bath or shower are notifiable, so they need a registered electrician or building control. Saying plainly that you don't do those jobs builds trust rather than losing it.
Do I need insurance to be a handyman?
Public liability insurance isn't a legal requirement for a one-person business, but most customers and every letting agent will expect it, because you're working in their property. If you take anyone on, employers' liability insurance is usually a legal requirement. Whatever you hold, the site shows it next to your reviews.
How much does a handyman website cost?
Mine is £497, one-off, with no VAT and no deposit, and you see your homepage design before you pay. Hosting and your web address are £20 a month, paid by you. You could build a simple site yourself for less, and if word of mouth already fills your week, that may be all you need for now.
What are SEO foundations?
The groundwork Google needs to find and understand your site: page titles written for the searches you want, a clear page structure, fast pages on mobile, your business details kept consistent, and a sitemap so Google knows every page exists. It's the base that Local SEO builds on later.
Will my website rank on Google?
No honest person can promise you a position, and I won't. Google decides where your pages show up. What I can promise is that your site launches with the SEO foundations done properly. If you want more from Google after that, Local SEO is there month to month, but it's up to you.
What happens to my current Google rankings?
The pages already bringing you visitors are redirected properly to their new addresses, so you keep the ground you've already gained.
What happens to my domain and email?
They stay yours. Your new site goes live on your own web address, and your email is left alone, because it runs separately from the website. Nothing is switched off until the new site is working.
Are there any ongoing costs?
Hosting and your web address cost , paid by you.A yearly fee for hosting and your web address, paid by you. I tell you the exact amount in writing before you pay anything. Local SEO is optional, month to month, if you want it.
Can I update the site myself?
Yes. You own it, so you can make changes yourself or ask anyone you like. For the first 90 days after launch, I make tweaks for you and keep improving the site based on what the tracking shows.
What happens after launch?
For 90 days, I keep an eye on how the site is doing and improve it based on what the tracking shows. Questions come straight to me, not a helpdesk. After that, it's yours to run however suits you.
