About James Tandy
I’m James Tandy, founder of JTandy.
I help service businesses identify what’s limiting growth and install the systems needed to remove it.
Most businesses don’t have a shortage of ideas.
They’ve already tried websites, SEO, ads, automation, marketing agencies, consultants, software and reporting tools.
The problem is usually much simpler.
Nobody identified what was actually restricting growth before recommending a solution.
That’s what JTandy exists to change.

James Tandy, founder of JTandy. You work directly with me.
Why JTandy exists
Over the years I’ve heard the same thing from business owners again and again.
“Nothing worked.”
Sometimes the work was poor.
But many times the bigger problem was that nobody had identified the real issue before recommending the fix.
- A business with no visibility needs a different solution to a business with poor conversion.
- A business missing calls needs a different solution to a business with weak reviews.
- A business with a polished website and no traffic does not need the same fix as a business with plenty of traffic and no enquiries.
Yet businesses are routinely sold solutions before the problem has been proven.
Then when results disappoint, the recommendation becomes:
“Let’s try something else.”
“Let’s give it more time.”
“We need more data.”
Growth always involves risk. But there is a difference between a calculated decision and a guess.
Calculated decision
Supported by evidence.
A guess
Supported by hope.
JTandy exists because I believe businesses deserve evidence before implementation.
What I believe
Find the problem before selling the fix.
The service comes after the diagnosis.
Before I recommend anything, I identify what’s restricting growth and gather the evidence to support it.
Only then does it make sense to discuss solutions.
Evidence comes before decisions.
If someone recommends SEO, there should be evidence that visibility is the problem.
If someone recommends a new website, there should be evidence that conversion is the problem.
If someone recommends automation, there should be evidence that follow-up is the problem.
The recommendation should follow the evidence. Not the other way around.
One bottleneck matters more than ten tactics.
Most businesses don’t need more activity.
They need a clearer understanding of what’s holding them back.
Growth improves when the constraint is removed.
More activity does not compensate for fixing the wrong problem.
Why founder-led matters
JTandy is intentionally founder-led.
When you speak to the business, you speak to me.
The person identifying the problem is the same person recommending the solution and doing the work.
- No salesperson.
- No account manager.
- No handoffs.
- No disconnect between diagnosis and implementation.
One accountable person from start to finish.
A note from me
I’m not trying to build a large agency.
I’m interested in helping good businesses understand what’s actually happening, make better decisions and improve the systems that support growth.
If I think I can help, I’ll explain why.
If I don’t, I’ll tell you.
